Weekly Homework

Each Thursday students will receive a packet of worksheets (Family Times) to be completed by the next Thursday. All homework will be turned in on Thursdays. Each week the homework will be the same, unless stated otherwise.
Monday- Read the story of the week. Find the synonyms of the vocabulary words, and study spelling words.
Tuesday- Read for 20 minutes. Write a story using all of the vocabulary words, and practice spelling words. (Literature Circle Books)
Wednesday- Read the story of the week, and complete all homework. (Homework is due on Thursday. Story test is on Thursday.)
Thursday- Study for spelling test. Read for 20 minutes. (Literature Circle Book)
Friday- Read the new story of the week. Write new spelling words five times each, and write vocabulary words in a sentence.
Saturday- Work on Family Times and Read Literature Circle Book
Sunday- Work on Family Times and Read Literature Circle Book
Parents, please make sure that your child reads nightly. If they are not reading a required text from class, please remind them to write it on their reading logs. Many students are not doing this at home and when I check they are not receiving credit, because it is not documented.
25 Book Campaign/ 1,000,000 Word Standard:
Parents for your child to get credit for completing a book, they MUST write a summary about their book. I'm not looking for a 2 page write up, but rather, evidence that they read the book and understood what the author was trying to say.
