My name is Miss Damian Chatmon, and I am excited about this year and having your child in my class. I graduated from Kennesaw State University, with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology in 2004. I began working as a Foster Care Case Manager after graduating, and found out that my interaction with children was minimal. I moved to Augusta in 2007 to begin working on my Master’s Degree in Teaching, at Augusta State University. I graduated from Augusta State in 2009, and then continued on to receive my Specialist Degree in Teaching and Learning in 2010. I began teaching in 2007, I’ve taught 8th grade Reading, 7th grade English Language Arts, and teaching 4th grade Language Arts. I am extremely excited about teaching 6th grade this year. It is going to be an awesome experience teaching my first set of students at Freedom Park, again. I am expecting it to be "OUR" best year ever. I am looking forward to getting to know my new students, and seeing the progress of my former and now current students.
This year, there will be a few changes, the new Common Core Georgia Performance Standards and Student-Led Conferences, but the changes will only benefit your child. I would like to schedule our first Student-Led Conferences for the end of August. More information concerning the conferences will be provided at Open House.
There is also a class blog to help keep you informed of what’s going on in the class. This site will be updated bi-weekly, with information that you may need and to help you see what is going on in the school as well as in the classroom. The blog can be found at following web address. http://misschatmonela.blogspot.com/ I hope to make this academic year, educational as well as a fun-filled year for the students.
If you would like to contact me to discuss your child's performance or any other problems that he/she may be facing in class, the best way to contact me is through email. If you feel that you need to call, please be patient with me, sometimes it is hard for me to call that day, depending on the time the message was left. Email allows me to answer you from home, if the day has gotten away from me. My email address is Damian.Chatmon@gmail.com.
